Privacy policy
1. Controller
The controller for data processing is Jens Brunk, email: dosskias@nation42.de. The postal address is in the legal notice.
2. Hosting and server log files
This website is hosted by ALL-INKL.COM – Neue Medien Münnich (Germany). When you open a page, the server processes technically necessary data: IP address, date and time, requested page, amount of data transferred, and browser and operating system details. This serves the secure and stable operation of the website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). A data processing agreement is in place with the host. Log files are kept only as long as needed for operation and security.
3. No cookies, no tracking
We do not use cookies, analytics or advertising services, and we do not load content from third-party servers. If you switch between light and dark design, your browser stores this choice locally (key "n42-theme"). It is not sent to us.
4. Nation42 launcher: download
The launcher installer and the launcher's download requests go through a service by Cloudflare (Cloudflare, Inc., USA); the launcher fetches the game files themselves from itch.io (see section 6). Your IP address is processed technically, also to limit the number of requests (rate limit), and Cloudflare keeps usual access logs. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (secure operation of the service). Cloudflare is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework; a data processing agreement is in place with Cloudflare.
5. Nation42 launcher: sign-in with Discord
To download the games you sign in to the launcher with your Discord account (OAuth 2.0 with PKCE in the browser). We only request the "identify" access (name, Discord ID and avatar); we do not receive your email address. Data is stored only on your computer, in the folder %AppData%\N42Launcher: the access and refresh tokens and your display name, encrypted with Windows DPAPI so that only your Windows account can read them. This file is deleted when you sign out. The download service receives your Discord ID from Discord with every download and uses it only as the key for a per-user rate limit; it is not logged or stored permanently. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (providing the launcher) or (f). Discord is a separate controller; you can find its privacy policy at https://discord.com/privacy.
6. Game downloads via itch.io
The games themselves are provided through itch.io. When you download, your launcher connects to itch.io, which processes your IP address. You can find its privacy policy at https://itch.io/docs/legal/privacy-policy.
7. Your rights
You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection under Art. 15 to 21 GDPR. To exercise them, contact dosskias@nation42.de. You may also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.
8. Changes
We update this policy when the website or the launcher changes.
